Week of May 24, 2015

Even though our preschool year is officially over we have still had lots of fun learning this week!  This week has been about bugs.  The kids had so much fun last week learning about bugs that we extended it for another week.

Monday Katie wanted to learn about spiders so we read "The Very Busy Spider", learned how many legs spiders have, compared to insects and made a spider web by lacing yarn onto a paper plate.

We were able to spend a few moments outside in the sunshine.  It was yet another rainy, soggy week and our backyard is sopping.  But, sometimes the sun would shine just enough to get a little back patio play in.

We made a new sensory tub this week using small tin pails, brown and black beans and flower figurines.

We also used our flower figurines and bugs with playdoh.

We've had to keep busy with lots of puzzles and dress-up because of all of this rain.

We also tried a new activity.  We went to a local craft shop and tried out their Little Crafters Club.  The girls made a fruit loop rainbow.  They also have open crafting time, which we think we'll try next time.

After craft time we walked down to the ice cream shop for a special treat.

Katie has been increasingly independent lately.  She helped me vacuum a few times this past week.  She loves using the hose attachment.

Katie spent one of Audrey's naptimes listening to "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and painting on a canvas.  She concentrated so hard and made a beautiful piece of art.

When Audrey woke up she wanted to paint, too!

We are going to be learning about seeds, plants and gardens for the next couple of weeks.  The girls sorted different kinds of seeds.  Audrey ended up successfully stuffing a few up her nose, too!

We had a movie night Friday night.  We watched Toy Story, ate chocolate pudding and slept on a pallet in the den.  Audrey ended up going to her bed but, she loved laying on the pallet during movie time.

The girls spent Sunday morning using the pallet as a stage to dance on.
