Week of April 22, 2013: Audrey Ann Vaughan Arrives!

The week started off just like it usually does...with a Tuesday play date with Knox.  The kids had fun running around the house and playing with play dough.  The whole morning I kept thinking that I needed to clean the house really well but, instead I played with the kiddos and relaxed.  Hmmmm...not such a good idea because right as I sat the kids down to lunch my water broke!  So...Knox's mom Julie came over while Rich and I got ready and went to the hospital.  Several hours later at 7:40 pm...

...Ms. Audrey Ann Vaughan was born!  She weighed 7 lb 9 oz and measured 21 in.  (Katie weighed 7 lb 8 oz and measured 21 in).

I could spam this entire post with pictures but instead I'll just post the hilights of our week.  Katie is doing really well with baby sister.  She shows interest in her and wants to take care of her by giving her a binky, covering her up, etc. but she's not crazy about her.  Luckily Audrey is an incredibly relaxed and contented baby so Katie still gets lots of time with Mommy and Daddy. Lillie is also doing really well with Audrey and hasn't had any problems adjusting.  All in all it has been as perfect a week as it can be with a newborn and a 2-year-old.  Rich still has many days off work and he's been staying on his night shift so we've both been getting a full 8 hours sleep.  That is probably one of the biggest helps because neither one of us is sleep deprived.  Audrey is truly a wonderful baby and we feel blessed to have our two girls and to complete our family!

 Audrey after her first bath.

To show you how much our girls look alike here's Katie after her first bath.

Grandma Sue and Aunt Vicki brought Katie to the hospital for her first real look at her baby sister.

Katie feeding Audrey for the first time.

Our first night home.
 First bath at home.
Grandmother and Grandfather came over to see the girls over the weekend.

First doctor's appointment.

 Reading with all my girls.

Grandma Sue and Grandmother got Katie some magnetic "paper dolls"  They have been a huge hit with Katie.  We put them on a cookie sheet so the pieces had something to stick to.

Grandma Sue, Grandpa David, Aunt Vicki and Papa came for a visit over the weekend.  We went outside for most of the afternoon and it was warm enough for Katie to enjoy playing in the sprinkler.

Daddy and his girls...Lillie jumped onto the chair too shortly after this picture.

Our relaxed baby girl snoozing on the couch while Daddy reads.

Yesterday it was in the upper 80s so we all went outside for the afternoon.  Audrey loved it and stretched her arms and legs out.  Katie got to play in the water again and ended up getting soaking wet.  Of course, our little water girl didn't mind!

Okay so maybe I did spam ya'll with a bunch of pictures but with two beautiful girls how could I not?!

Week of April 15, 2013

Not too much going on around here this week.  The weather has been great so we've been spending lots of time outside.  We're still working on a name for baby sister and we've got it narrowed down to a few.  Everything is all ready for her arrival!

Katie and her buddy Lillie love playing in the water even though it can be downright cold.
Katie and I have big plans for a fairy garden.  It's one of the special projects we'll do together once baby sister gets here.  In the meantime Katie has enjoyed playing with all the fairy furniture.
We had a special storytime about dogs this week and Fred, the dog came to visit.
We're enjoying getting some quality time in with Katie before she becomes a big sister.
Katie loves pretending to be a dog...here she is sitting like Lillie.

Coloring is still a favorite activity.
We went to a new park this week and Katie absolutly loved it!  She was so excited she hardly knew what to play on next.  We will definitly be going back to this one.

We've had Ms. Lillie a year now and we are crazy about this dog!  I've never seen a dog that's better with kids or more loving.  Katie and Lillie will play together all day long then when we put Katie to bed Lillie snuggles right up with us.  Such a sweet little girl!
