Our Week: Relaxing, Just How We Like It

We had a nice, relaxing week.  Sunday is Rich's first night off of work and our "saturday".  We decided to tackle rearranging the living room which included emptying and moving our 55-gallon fish tank.  Whew!  I was able to catch all of the fish but, 4 and we only lost one (he must have jumped out of the bucket because I found him squashed on our rug).  After emptying all the water and rocks we pulled and tugged until we finally got the aquarium moved....about 5 feet lol!  Our living room looks a lot bigger and there's more space to move around even though we only moved the t.v. and aquarium.

While Rich was under the computer desk moving wires he needed for the t.v. Katie decided to have a seat.  She made herself quite comfortable lol!

The rest of the week was full of our usual playdate, library, grocery shopping, outside time and art.

Katie walking around in just her sneakers.

There have been tons of birds in our yard lately including several kinds of finches.  Katie loves going to the window and signing "bird".  She likes to help fill the bird feeders, even though I think she eats more bird seed than she puts in the feeders, yuck!

Examining her birdseed-covered hand.

Coloring with crayons.

Picking the wild onion growing in our yard.

I love the sweet little smile on her face.  She has really enjoyed the swing lately.

She enjoys examining every little thing outside.

I was cutting her toenails and she just had to do it herself.  She didn't, of course, but she put forth quite the effort.

Daddy and Katie reading her favorite book...The Foot Book.  She brings this book to us to read all day long and carries it around.  It's getting ready to be worn out with all the love it's gotten.  We love that she enjoys her books so much.

Coloring with markers.

I found this bubble mower for $5, barely used and surprised Daddy and Katie with it.

Our puppy, now 3 1/2 weeks old.

Our Week: Grandma and Grandpa in town

What a week!  We had snow and then 60 degree weather, great-grandparents visited, my Dad was in sunny Mexico so we had dogs, cats, goats, a horse and a parakeet to take care of....whew!  The best part of the week was having my grandparents over for several days in a row and getting to see them having so much fun with Katie.  Little girl was soaking up all the extra attention!

Katie's now famous "cheese" smile for the camera

On Sunday I made some spinach dip for my Dad's bday party.  Katie came up to the counter and said "mmmmmm" while reaching for the spoon that I was stirring with so I sat her up on the counter and we made the dip together.  Here she is sprinkling parmesan cheese on the finished dip.

Pops and Tina got Katie a book and stuffed animal for Valentine's Day.  We got some delicious russell stover chocolate.

It snowed a little bit on monday.  As soon as Katie was done with breakfast Rich ran outside and filled up a tub with snow.  Katie and her Daddy played for an hour in the snow....it melted super slowly and was really easy to pack and mold.

We got Katie an Elmo doll for Valentine's Day.  She carried Elmo around all day and if she would misplace him she would come up to us and say "mo-mo" and have us help her look for Elmo.

Baby girl painted a heart for her Daddy for his Valentine and...

...she colored on a huge card.

She loves putting on her Daddy's hats.

Knox and Julie came over for a playdate...Knox gave Katie her first Valentine...aaaaahhhhhhh, aren't they cute?

Grandma came with us for storytime on thursday and helped Katie make her craft.

We got some big pom-poms and Katie had fun putting them into different cups, bowls and tubs.

Every night that Grandma and Grandpa were here Katie sat on the couch after dinner and read to Grandpa.  She would pick up a book and start jabbering and talking and then look at Grandpa to make sure he was paying attention.

Aunt Vicki came over on Saturday and Katie got even more love and attention.

Ms. Katie got a hold of some of Grandma's curlers.  I remember playing with these when I was little.  Katie loved playing with them and putting the pin in and out of the curler.

We got some more pictures of our puppy.  She's 2 1/2 weeks old.

Puppy Update

Here's the new pictures of our little girl that we received from the breeder last night.  She has grown a lot!  We first saw her when she was 5 days old and could easily fit in one hand.  Now we just have to come up with a name...hmmmm...any suggestions?

Our Week: Picking out a puppy

Our week started off very exciting for us...a cavalier king charles spaniel breeder called and we were finally able to go pick out a puppy.  We drove a little over an hour and got to see two of the tiniest little puppies and pick one out.  They were only five days old when we saw them so Katie had a hard time believing that they were really dogs.  She kept saying "Woof?".  She wasn't so sure that the little furry, squirming things were dogs lol!

The one on the bottom is our puppy.

The one on the bottom is ours.

This is the mom Buttercup.  The mom and the dad are both a lot prettier in person.  These pictures don't do them justice.
                                                               The dad, Shaker.

Again, hours is the one on the bottom.

In this one she's on the far left.

We'll be getting updates on the puppy and the breeder is going to send us pictures and videos every once in a while.  We get to pick her up at the end of March.

Other than the fun trip to pick out our little girl we've had a pretty normal week.  Here's what we (or should I say Katie) has been up to.

After our trip on monday Daddy and Katie got some cuddle time on the couch while I fixed dinner.

She makes this face a lot for the camera, now...complete with her version of the word "cheese!"

She made some beautiful paint sample art work and even did her own gluing.

These little things are called jumbles and they're made by crayola.  Katie can stack them, connect them, practice colors with them and of course chew away on them.

I think we're going to have to get some hats, glasses, purses, etc. for Katie to start playing dress-up.  She loves trying to put our clothes on.  Her Daddy found these glasses and she's been going around wearing them and taking them on and off her head.

She likes to put her toes under the water during bath time.

Knox was super excited to see Katie this week.  He kept running up to her, pointing and smiling at her.  When Katie threw a toy he was laughing so hard it looked like he was going to fall over.  They are really starting to notice each other and interact with each other a lot more.

Storytime theme this week was Valentine's.  There was 35 people at storytime so we didn't stay as long as we normally do.  Katie was bound to get ran over by all the other little guys and gals running around.

Here she is putting on my house shoes and trying to walk around the house.

Isn't she just the cutest thing?
