Our Christmas

So here is our Christmas in a nutshell....

The monday before Christmas we went over to my Dad's house and celebrated with him and his wife Tina.
Katie was a bit overwhelmed at all the presents but she soon got into the excitement and started opening gifts.
She helped me unwrap my new sewing machine...yay!  (Another post to come soon of my adventures in sewing)
Rich showing off his new jacket.
There were two big toys to put together, a little tikes car and a tinker bell kitchen.

We had the rest of the week to relax and get ready for the four Christmases that followed Christmas weekend.
Katie and I decorated cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.
We went to my Grandma's Christmas Eve night.  Katie was the center of attention and she soaked it up.  She got the hang of opening the gifts at Grandma's.

Grandma Sue made some Christmas pajamas.

Christmas morning we enjoyed our family Christmas....we made homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast and watched Katie unwrap all her gifts.

Katie's two big presents from us were a tunnel......
 and a block table.
I forgot to bring the camera to Rich's parents and to my Grandmother's so no pictures of those two trips.  We went to Rich's parents and ate a turkey dinner and opened presents.
We went to my Grandmother's on the day after Christmas.  My cousin was in from California and she stayed with our grandparents Christmas night so it was great to get to visit with her.  Katie loved sitting on her lap and playing with her ipad.
With 5 Christmases to get through it was a very busy week but we enjoyed all the time we got to spend with our family.

14 months old

Katie turned 14-months-old today!  She is doing so many different things, so quickly that it is hard to keep up with them all.

*She still loves to eat.  The only thing we've found so far that she doesn't like is brocolli and honestly who can blame her there?  Some of her new favorites are bologna and yogurt.  She's still a big fan of cheese, pasta, bananas, strawberries, grapes, peas and pretty much anything else you put in front of her.
*She's really starting to walk.  Yesterday and today she has done more walking than she has crawling.
*She loves to climb.
*She loves her baby dolls, stuffed animals and books.
*She's having a lot of fun jumping on our bed and falling over onto the pillows.
*She makes us laugh a lot with her hollywood style drama and cowboy death scenes (really she throws her arms up in the air and falls over with a dramatic auuughghgh!)
*She says dada, mama, doggy, papa, yeah and obi dada (we think that means hold me dada)

Katie withdrawals

We've been pretty busy recently so for those of you suffering Katie withdrawals here are some pictures of our baby girl over the past few weeks.  Enjoy!
                                                   Katie on her 13-month-old birthday
                                                        13-months-old
Eating Thanksgiving dinner.....she loved it all!
                                                      Eating marshmallows with Daddy.
                                                         Thanksgiving day

Drinking hot chocolate for the first time while we decorated the Christmas tree.
She's been making this face a lot for pictures lol!
Yep, we've got our hands full....you turn around and you never know what she'll get into.
She pushes her walker all over the house and takes 3-6 steps at a time by herself.
                                                        She loves her baby dolls.
She's really starting to build with her blocks...we got her a mega blok table for Christmas.
She loves playing with her friend Knox, they chase each other all over the house.

Getting ready to go see Santa, there's that goofy look again.
Santa gave Katie a coloring book.

Lots of Random Pictures from the Past 2 Weeks

Katie was watching Elmo's World after her bath.........apparently she was pretty excited about it.
We've got to go on a few bike rides lately, with Katie riding in her bike trailer.
I know her eyes are closed but she was cheesing for her Daddy who had the camera.
She's really starting to get into coloring.
Katie and her buddy Knox at one of their playdates.
Daddy had the brilliant idea to let Katie play with some yarn...she loved it!
Coloring a picture and using her multi-crayon technique

Even though it has been cold outside lately Katie still loves playing outside.
She has found a new little spot that she likes to play in and put her little "treasures" in.
Playing with her kitchen while Mommy cooks.
                                                   Playing with Great Grandma Sue
                                               Playing with Aunt Charlotte
Katie got to make a birdfeeder at storytime.  She ate a spoonful of birdseed too!

What do you do when you're desperate for something to entertain a 1-year-old for that extra minute or two?  Give them an onion!
Katie has started using a spoon this past week and she's getting pretty good at it.

Our Week: Halloween and Doctor's Visit

Halloween was this week and of course Katie had the cutest outfit ever...a chicken!  We had family over on sunday for chili and to see Katie in her costume.  On Halloween night we went to Rich's parents house so they could see Katie in her outfit, too.  When we got home Katie answered the door to a couple of trick-or-treaters and then konked out.

Before we got Katie all dressed up in her chicken outfit she got to play outside.

She loves playing in the dirt and with the flowers in the backyard.

                                                        Giving the flowers a kiss

Katie had her 1-year-old checkup on tuesday.  She had to get all of her shots, including the flu but she was a trooper and just cried a couple minutes after the shots.  Here's her stats from the doctor's visit
*She weighs 18.6 lbs.
*She's 29 in.
*She can have all foods now except for peanut products.
*The doctor said she's doing great and is developmentally and physically "perfect"!

At the library on thursday Katie got to play the keyboard.  She sat in the librarian's lap and played for about 10 minutes (until the librarian had to get back to work lol).  Then she sat on my lap for another 15 until we had to go.  She really loves music.  She loves turning on the radio and dancing to the songs.

For the first time in a long, long, long time Katie actually fell asleep in her Daddy's lap.  She doesn't like to be held or cuddled while she falls asleep, she wants to be in her bed and left alone but, last night she was just too tuckered out to care.  Her Daddy soaked it up and loved cuddling his little girl before we tucked her in.

She likes wearing Daddy's baseball cap.

Katie got to try a new food this week...fish!  I baked some salmon and she gobbled it up.  She ate the salmon before she ate her peas and peas are on of her favorite foods!

Katie and I took advantage of the beauitful weather and planted some tulip bulbs today.  It will be hard for Katie when the weather turns colder and she can't go outside.  She loves playing outside...watching the birds at the bird feeder and picking grass.
