Week of May 22, 2016

What a fun week!  It started out with a birthday party for Katie's friend Owen.  It was a "mad scientist" themed party.  The kids got to wear lab coats and perform experiments.  They ate pizza and at the end of the party got to swim in the (freezing) pool.  They loved it and had such a great time!

Sunday morning Katie slept in while Audrey and I made our Sunday morning blueberry muffins.  When Katie woke up we ate muffins and had poetry tea time.

The girls blowing bubbles in their nightgowns.

Monday we got to work on school.  We don't make Audrey do any school work but, she usually joins in.  Lately she has become very interested in writing.  These are the beautiful j's she made!

For math on monday the girls had to follow a recipe.  They loved this activity so much they asked me to make more recipe cards for me to follow.

Tuesday the girls got a surprise in the mail...an ant farm!  Katie had been wanting an ant farm for quite a while and we finally got to order one.  We were all so excited.  The ants came in a tube and dig their tunnels in a gel.  They get their food and water from the gel.  They started digging tunnels right away so the girls had fun watching them from the beginning.

Making ant tunnels with construction paper.

Tuesday Knox and Brex came over.  The kids did school and of course, danced and played.

Wednesday the girls and I went shopping.  One of the girl's favorite stores now is Hobby Lobby.  They love trying on the different party hats and the kids' craft section.

Katie was reluctant to do swimming lessons this year but, then she decided that if she could wear some goggles she would want to try swimming lessons.  So she got to get some goggles!

We got our kiwi crates this week and they sent us an extra pinball machine to build so both the girls got to play with a pinball machine.

Thursday all the kids came over.  We didn't get too much schoolwork done but, they did get a lot of dancing and playing done!

Several times this week the girls have gotten to play in the pool, sprinkler and of course mud!

Saturday morning the girls helped Daddy make biscuits then we headed off to visit all the grandparents.

Katie and Audrey both got haircuts at Grandma's.  Audrey was very brave and got her hair cut for the first time.

As you can tell she was quite nervous about getting her hair trimmed.

She slowly warmed up to the idea.

Grandma and Katie made some more clothes for her barbies.

We visited Grandmother and Grandfather's house too.  While we were there we visited the nursery down the road.  Audrey got to feed the koi fish.  They were really cool and would eat right out of your hand.  She spent a good deal of time throwing the fish one little piece of food at time.

Sunday morning the girls and I planted our new flowers.

Examining a snail.

After we planted flowers we visited the park.  The girls were thrilled when they pushed the button for the splash pad and it turned on.  We were not prepared for the water but, they had fun getting wet anyway!
