Our Week: Building our Den

This week we were able to get started on our garage room project.  We're taking half of the garage and turning it into a room.  When it's done it will be about the size of our living room.  It will be so nice to have the extra space!

Katie and Lillie love cuddling with each other.  Katie is so good about giving Lillie her toys (even if she has to force Lillie to take them lol!)

Baby girl went through a growing spurt this week.  She ate and ate and ate...then she took over three hour naps.  This is EXACTLY how her Daddy sleeps.

She looks like such a big girl coloring.  She's starting to lay on her belly and play with her toys.  She looks so grown up when she does that.

We hooked up her trailer to her little tikes car.  She loves sitting in small spaces so this has been her preferred method of travel in the backyard.

Lillie prefers taking the driver's seat.

We grilled some more amazing steaks this weekend.  Literally melt in your mouth delicious!

 Gotta love Daddy kisses.

Going on a walk down the trail.

Katie has had so much fun climbing all over the stack of lumber Daddy has set up for the garage.

We enjoyed our playdate with Knox this week.  These two little buddies got to fingerpaint.  Knox wasn't too sure what to do at first but, after a little while he got the hang of it.

They looked so cute just playing around in their diapers.

Daddy and Katie reading the paper.

Katie played in the waterhose a few days this week.  She went back and forth from her tub to the barrels, watering the flowers.

And for those of you who think Katie never cries here it is!  She was very upset that all the water wouldn't stay in her watering can.  In her defense it was very close to bedtime.  Still this is such an adorable picture...cracks me up!

Daddy is showing Katie how to use tools.  Here they are tightening up the anchors using a wrench.

Can you spot the frog?  There are quite a few frogs in our yard and gardens and Katie loves watching them.  This one was a baby leopard frog and boy can he jump!

Storytime this week was teddy bear slumber party.  Katie got to bring her teddy bear and wear her pajamas.  Her teddy bear spent the night at the library and had a slumber party.  We picked him up on friday, along with some pictures of what he did at night.  Our library does a great job of creating ideas for the kids.

Katie has a friend at the library who's two.  He loves talking and playing with Katie.  After storytime he grabbed her hands and was dancing with her.  They kept falling and laughing, then he would help her up and they'd start dancing again.

Grandmother and Grandfather came for a visit on friday.  We got to spend a lot of time with them in the backyard looking at the garden and playing.

Our Week: Mother's Day

Yet another wonderful week at the Vaughan house.  It took me awhile to get these pictures on the computer because Lillie chewed up the camera cord.  Luckily we were able to use the SD card to get the pictures for this week on the computer, it just has to be done manually.

Katie painted this week.  I gave her blue and yellow paint so when she inevitably mixed it together it would make a color other than brown...lol!  We painted on paper and also on some paper towel tubes to mix it up a little.  We're going to use the paper towel tubes for another activity so they'll be beautifully painted when we get to them.

We stayed home on Mother's Day.  Rich and Katie started marinating steaks early in the morning.  Katie likes to sit on the counter and help us cook.

As she sat on the counter she helped herself to some fruit.  She ate these little plumcots (plums/apricots) all week long.

Relaxing on the back porch while Daddy grilled steaks.

The day after Mother's Day we went Rich's parents.  Katie LOVED jumping on her cousin's trampoline.

Rich and I had a wonderful time jumping, too!

Katie and her puppy watching Sesame Street.

We got Katie a potty seat.  Right now we're just working on getting used to sitting on the potty.  This is the one of those pictures we'll show her later on just to embarass her but, isn't she too cute?!

Playing in the water.

This week at storytime it was a puppy theme.  We brought Lillie to the library for the kids to play with...luckily my Dad was able to come to storytime, too.  He was such a big help with Katie and Lillie, it would have been hard to wrangle those two by myself.  Thanks Pops!

Katie and I go to the garden every morning to water and weed.  Katie loves digging in the dirt and eating the sugar snap peas.  She's also starting to help with the watering.

Our Week

Katie and Lillie continue to get into all sorts of trouble together!  Don't you love Katie's outfit?  Her Daddy dressed her...can you tell?

Katie went to her first birthday party for one of her friends at storytime.  She colored a card for her friend.

We had corn on the cob a couble times this week.  Katie loved preparing it.

Playing at the park during her friend's birthday party.

She loved her nutella pancakes!

Katie got a slide this week.  She wasn't so sure about it at first but, now she's sliding down it all by herself.

She helped me make some banana bread this week.

I think she liked helping eat the banana bread even more than she liked making it.  I think she had three pieces the other day at lunch.

We've been able to harvest some snow peas.  Katie carries her Easter basket and puts the peas in it.  Usually more end up in her belly than in the basket.  As I pick the peas I can hear *crunch, crunch, crunch* behind me!

Katie helped me weed the vegetable garden, too.  Apparently her idea of weeding includes picking the leaves off the pepper plants (lol).

We went to my Grandparents house and met my Aunt Pam and Uncle Steve there.  It was so nice to get to see them...I know Katie's has changed so much since the last time we got together.

We got to have a playdate with Knox this week.  He has a new baby brother!  Julie, Knox, Katie and I went outside to play and plant some flowers.  Katie got to ride on Knox's four wheeler.

Knox pushed Katie around in his car....such a gentleman!

Lillie and Katie playing on her slide.

Planting even more flowers.

 Observe the super cuteness!

Sitting at the table with the big kids looking at books.

My grandparents gave us lots of plants from their garden.  Here's the flox by the stump...

...we put the black-eyed susans and other plants in the perennial bed.

Katie picked a marigold...here she is smelling it.  She's very serious about smelling.

Of course Lillie had to get a whiff of the flower, too.
