Momma in Focus: Love

Not much time for a lengthy post today...baby girl is teething and the poor thing is kinda miserable and clingy.  Even though she isn't feeling well it gives us some extra time to cuddle and love on her.  The love theme this week was wonderful.  We love giving that baby girl kisses and hugs.  We went on one of our many walks down the trail this week and the hubby took this pic.
During our nightly reading ritual that sweet man of mine took these.  This book is appropritely called "Kisses" and was given to Katie by my dad for valentine's day.  She gets plenty of kisses throughout the story.

Momma in Focus: Fun

There is no end to the fun with Katie around.  Today she turns 7 months old and she is absolutely brimming with energy!  Although she tends to be a bit reserved when we are out, inside our home she is a complete goofball.  She is always trying to get us to laugh....she sticks out her tongue, babbles and talks, does a fake laugh just  to see if we will laugh back at her and anything else she can do to try to get our attention.  She is so much fun to be around and we enjoy doing so many things with her.  One thing that Katie and I do every day is go on walks.  We are lucky enough to have a walking trail that goes right by our neighborhood and we go on a walk at least once a day. Daddy comes on walks with us in the early mornings or in the evenings but, during the day it's a Katie/Mommy ritual.  It was pretty cool and rainy this week but, between thunderstorms we managed to get a few of our walks in.  The look on her face in this picture is so sweet.  I know she's thinking "Okay Mom, can we just take a walk?"

Monday Adventures: Geocaching

Katie will be 7 months in a few days and we can't believe it.  She is getting to the age where she enjoys getting out and doing things.  Rich is off on Sundays and Mondays which is nice because there is hardly anybody out on mondays so we can go to the zoo, park, etc. and it's not very crowded.  We decided it was time to start building some memories!  This week we decided to go geocaching.  Geocaching is a "real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. You navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location."  Here's the website http://www.geocaching.com/guide/default.aspx  This was our first geocache hunt so we decided to start simple and stay as close as possible.  Luckily someone had put a geocache on the trail that runs right next to our neighborhood.  It was a beautiful 70 degrees outside...perfect weather and Katie loves going on walks!
Daddy strapping Katie in.
She's ready to go
We started heading down the trail...this is the part Katie and I go to on our daily walks
This was the location.  We parked Katie in the shade and started looking for the geocache.  We had no idea what the container would look like.  I was looking on the ground and walking around the tree.  Rich spotted the geocache...
It was attached to the tree branch...
You can tell Katie was very excited about finding the geocache...
We opened the geocache.  Inside was a pencil and a log book.  There are different types of geocaches but this one was the simplest kind.  You just sign a log book.  There were signatures from Mustang, OK and KS.
We signed our name and started heading back down the trail.  It was a gorgeous day...there were tons of wildflowers blooming and rabbits were hopping around all over the place.

We'll definitly do another geocache.  There are a lot in our area especially around the lake.

Momma in Focus: Details

Ever since I can remember I have always heard stories about my little hands and feet.  My grandparents can go on for quite some time about "those tiny little hands".  I admit that it is the only physical feature that I really do like.   So when we found out that Katie was going to be a girl the only thing I wanted her to get from me was my tiny hands and feet.  Well...she's almost seven months old now, she has her daddy's little toe but she does the same weird thing with her big toe that I do.  Who knows if she has my hands and feet or her daddy's but it's probably a good mixture of both.  One thing's for sure big or little I LOVE that baby girl's hands and feet!
The only time I could ever hope for Katie to be still and get a good closeup of those toes is when she's sound asleep.  Luckily she fell asleep just before returning home from our daily walk.  As soon as we walked into the driveway I ran in and got the camera before she could wake up.

Of course moments later she awoke but I got the cutest smile from her when she saw me playing with her toes.

Hubby Thursday: How We Met

Rich and I met on December 30, 2006 on a blind date.  At the time I was going to college at TCC.  I met a guy named Terry and he and his wife soon became my good friends.  Rich is Terry's best friend so they set it up for us to meet at their house.  Then we all went to eat at Los Cabos in Broken Arrow and we went bowling.  Rich was such a sweetheart...he let me beat him at bowling.  We met once again a week later at Terry and Andrea's house and then started going out just the two of us.  We "officially started dating" April 5, 2007 and got married October 4, 2007.  The best years of my life have been spent with this wonderful man and I thank God every day for the family He has blessed us with!
Our first picture together taken somewhere around May 2007

Hubby Thursday

Rich and I met on December 30, 2006 on a blind date.  I went to college with Rich's best friend Terry.  I was also really good friends with Terry's wife Andrea.  They arranged for Rich and I to meet at their house and then we all went to eat at Los Cabos in Broken Arrow and went bowling.  (Rich let me win at bowling....such a sweetheart!)  We went out with Terry and Andrea a few more times and then started hanging out, just the two of us.  We "officially" started dating on April 5, 2007 and got married on October 4, 2007.

Mother's Day

My sweet hubby gave me not only a Mother's Day but, a Mother's Weekend!  It started on Saturday with some beautiful yellow mums!

Katie was a big fan of the flowers!

We spent part of the day Sunday relaxing at home.  In the late afternoon we went out for my two favorites, Taco Bueno and ice cream...yum! Later that evening we played with our precious baby girl until it was time to put her to bed.

 I love her slobbery kisses!
For a final treat on this Mother's Weekend my wonderful guy smoked some country style ribs.

Thank you sweet man for all you do for us!

Momma in Focus: Black and White

We spend most of our evening playing with Katie in her room, reading her stories, encouraging her to crawl, etc.  My sweet hubby took these of me and her a few days ago.

Daddy was playing around with the color swap on the camera.

Those little cheeks are just so kissable!
