Week of November 9, 2014: Space Week

We got to enjoy one more beautiful day outside before the cold weather came in and we took full advantage of that time!  Knox and Brex came over Monday and we spent the majority of our day outside.
Audrey is still loving Jack, although Katie has lost interest.  Audrey helps me feed him every day and always tries to crawl in his hutch to pet him.

Katie is more interested in swinging than in her rabbit.

All the kids have fun in the sandbox.

We learned about space this week.  I drew the planets on the sidewalk and the kids jumped on each planet as we sang, "There Are 8 Planets".  All the kids enjoyed this and we went through the song many times throughout the day.

Audrey enjoys the swing almost as much as Katie.  She likes laying on her stomach to swing.

The girls played a space-themed board game with their teddy bear counters.

Audrey helped me make banana bread for the first time.

Katie made a name rocket.

After Audrey went to bed Katie worked on making a butterfly.  Turned out beautifully.

On Wednesday the boys came over again and we learned about constellations.
Then the kids put star stickers on paper and made their own constellations.

Katie and Knox climbed into their "spaceship" and went to space.

The most exciting event of the week for the girls was the first snow of the season.  They watched the snow fall and the birds at the birdfeeder while I made hot chocolate.  We ate banana bread and hot chocolate for breakfast.

Then the girls bundled up and went outside.  This was Audrey's first time in the snow since she was too little last year to enjoy it.

Audrey purposefully dove her head in the snow and this was the resulting facial expression.

After we got inside and got warm we pulled out the playdoh.
