We had a fall leaves theme week and it was the perfect week for lots of leaf activities. The weather is turning cool and lots of leaves are falling. Here's some of the artwork from last week's activities.
Hannah came over for a visit and the girls and their cousin made some collages while Mommy and Daddy got dinner together.
Katie has been more interested in learning how to write. She asks for me to help her write daily. We are practicing how to write letters using dry erase boards, chalk, paint, flour on the counter and the usual crayon and paper.
Katie got a donut maker for her birthday from Grandma and Grandpa. The girls absolutely loved making their own donuts and getting to cook them themselves. The cooking and eating of the donuts entertained them for over an hour.
We pulled out a few busy bags...the girls practiced their fine motor skills by using tongs to pick up pom poms and tiny spiders.
Katie has been asking about patterns and how to make them so we pulled out our fall themed pattern cards and figures and then our teddy bear counters.
Knox and Katie took turns practicing their letters. Knox practiced the letter of the week at his house and Katie practiced writing the number 4. I let them choose their letter or number that they want to practice because it seems to excite them more and encourages them to do their best.
We had big plans of going on a leaf hunt on our trail, collecting leaves and going home and making leaf prints and leaf collages. Katie was so excited for this outing. Daddy and Lillie even came along! Then, poor little Katie ran ahead and took a big fall on the trail. Her chin and knee were scraped up pretty badly. So instead of a leaf hunt we had Katie's first big "owie".
We also found some persimmons while on the trail. We cut the seeds open and saw spoons...a wet, snowy winter is ahead!
Katie did end up getting to make leaf prints the day after our leaf hunt.
Sweet Audrey is such a little mess. And boy does that girl love her Daddy!
Saturday we planned on staying home for the first time in many months. Daddy had a few projects around the house and I was going to get the garden ready for winter. The girls and I raked up leaves and put them into the garden so Daddy could spade them into the soil.
Then poor Daddy fell through the attic into the laundry room while working in the attic. That stopped our relaxing Saturday at home. He patched up the ceiling then we cleaned up all the insulation and drywall. So much for all his other projects. I was able to get my garden done...Daddy turned over the dirt and we covered each bed with straw. The girls loved playing and jumping in the straw and climbing all over the bales.
