Week of Sept. 14, 2014: Farm

Our house has been full of farm activities, crafts and games.  A farm theme has got to be one of the most loved preschool themes there is...there is so much to see, craft and learn!  We only just scratched the surface since we only did one week's worth of activities.

One of our first activities was coloring pigs and using coffee grounds and glue to paint mud onto the pigs.  This was a great sensory experience because the kids could feel and smell the coffee grounds.

The girls played in their sandboxes many times throughout the week when the weather was cooperating.

We took a trip to Atwoods to visit the baby chicks and brought home some pig figurines.  The girls used brown playdoh as mud to play with their pigs.

Katie has been playing with our camera and took this wonderful picture of Daddy and Audrey.

Beau is getting into our routine and becoming more and more used to us.  We are working on training him to stay on his playstand.

The girls made tractor tracks in the mud with some of their friends as another art project this week.

One of the cutest projects we did was to make chickens out of paper plates, using the girls' handprints as the chicken combs.

We are prepping for next week's sensory theme.  Katie helped me dye some rice for an I Spy Jar.

Katie gets to do school with Daddy on Fridays when I go grocery shopping.

To finish up our farm themed week we made a visit to Pryor to a petting farm.  The girls saw rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, a pig, chickens and ducks.  Grandma Sue joined us at the petting farm and afterward we visited with Grandmother and Grandfather.

Katie is learning the responsibilities of caring for a new pet.  She usually helps me feed Beau in the morning and this week she also helped clean out his food and water dishes and change out the paper in his cage.

Audrey is helping, too...her favorite cleaning activity is wiping off the table.

We got Katie's dancewear!
