Week of May 12, 2014: Pete the Cat and His 4 Groovy Buttons

We read a great book this week called Pete the Cat and His 4 Groovy Buttons.  It is definitely on our must-have in our home library list.  The girls had fun reading the book over and over.
We went to the store to get buttons for our Pete the Cat activities.  Katie picked out some stickers and made lots of beautiful art.

For the first time Audrey was able to play with playdough without devouring it.  She squeezed it between her fingers and pulled it apart.  Katie had fun cutting hair with one of her playdough sets.

We made a sensory tub with lintels and tiny buttons.  Katie dug and found the buttons and matched them to the circles on her paper.
Then she decided she needed to make a cake with her buttons and lintels so we brought out the muffin pans and cookie sheets.

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride so we brought the bikes and trailer out of the shed.  I was able to ride my Grandmother's old bike that Rich has been working on so I was excited about that.  We got it when I was pregnant with Audrey so I have hardly gotten to ride on it.  Now Audrey is old enough to sit in the bike trailer so we can all go on rides.

The kiddos had their friends over for some more Pete the Cat fun.  We read the book, made a button snake, counted buttons and played outside.

Katie and I made shapes using her geoboards.  She really had to concentrate to get the rubber bands stretched out just right to fit over the pegs on the board.

We've also had lots of outside time and bubble time!
