I got in the bad habit of not taking pictures with the camera, then not uploading pictures, then not putting up a blog each week. So now back to the blog!
Monday we had a nice, "normal" day of school. I took lots of pictures Monday so I can share some of the activities we do during our school day.
Lately I have been reading a lot about "morning basket". This is a homeschool term and it involves spending your time first thing in the morning on truth, goodness and beauty. Morning baskets can include Bible, read-alouds, poetry, nature journals, etc. Our morning time starts with Bible. We have always tried to do some kind of Bible study or reading but, it's been challenging finding the right hook for us. We finally found it in grapevine Bible studies! Both the girls and I love this curriculum! The girls love that they get to draw and color. I love that you read directly from the Bible and not a children's Bible. We read roughly 3-5 verses a day, the girls and I discuss what we read and then, they draw pictures of what we read. We love it!

After Bible our next morning basket activity varies. We rotate between poetry, nature study, art, composer study and artist study and hymns. Monday morning Katie was very excited to color and listen to her new cd (classic Bible songs). Audrey was excited to go outside and feed the rabbits. So we split up for a bit and each girl got to have some time to do what they were excited about.
Audrey's rabbit, Boxey.
My rabbit, Jack.
Katie's rabbit, Buttercup.
After taking care of the rabbits Audrey got to play on the swing a little while.
We all got back together again to finish morning basket time with read-alouds. Reading books is definitely our favorite times of the day.
After read-alouds we worked on math. Monday we learned how to play dominoes.
After math the girls went off to play. A little while later we all ate lunch. Lunch is never a quiet event and usually includes a book or two. Sometimes it includes squishy faces!
After lunch Katie worked on her reading and writing. When Daddy woke up he and the girls played with legos for a bit before dinner.
Tuesday Knox and Brex came over. We all had fun with a shortened version of morning time. The kids were wiggly and very excited to play together so we sped through school and they spent the rest of the day playing.
While the kids played I made them surprise chocolate chip cookies.

Wednesday we went to storytime at the library. We had a local news anchor stop by to read to the kids.
The girls got asked to get their picture taken for some promotional ads for the library. I think the giant rolling cart of books and Katie's arms full gave them a hint that we love the library.
We had gone camping the weekend before and seen a lot of dragonflies. We ordered some dragonfly books and the girls were excited to look through them.
Smelling the basil.
Thursday we met some of our friends at the zoo. The girls were so excited about this trip. Katie was so excited she could barely sleep the night before.
We are so blessed with two beautiful girls that LOVE each other!
