Week of July 22, 2013: Audrey turns 3 months!

Oh how time does fly with our two little girls!  Our sweet little Audrey turned 3 months old this week!  We've been enjoying the cooler temperatures and all sorts of fun activities with our two little beauties.  

 

 Katie got some magnetic letters and numbers in the mail.  She was so excited to open her "surprise" and has been playing with them all week.  She's got most of her letters learned and is starting to get the sounds down, too.

One of the more exciting events of the week for Katie was the addition of three more critters in her tank.  We have a SpongeBob Squarepants statue in the tank but, we added three more characters from one of Katie's favorite shows.  Gary the snail, Larry the snail and Mr. Krabbs.  Katie loves looking in her tank for her new little buddies. 

Sweet little Audrey is growing and changing so much.  Her 3 month old accomplishments include:

Sleeping from 7:00pm-7:00 am with only 1 or 2 wake ups in the night for a quick bottle.
Giggling!  Her first laugh was when her Daddy was swinging her in his arms.
Big smiles at everyone!
Lots of goos, coos and ahhs.
Eating 4 1/2 oz every 3-4 hours during the day.
Mini push ups during tummy time.

We finished our princess themed learning this week.  Katie placed "jewels" in play doh, played with her princess paper dolls and dressed up in princess outfits.

Katie wanted to eat breakfast in front of her fish tank so she could watch her fish.  If you look closely you can see the two angelfish in the corner, observing Katie, too.

When I asked Katie what she wanted me to get at the grocery store she replied, "Cookies!".  So Katie and I got together and we made some cookies.

We've had another wonderful week full of sweet baby smiles, afternoons out in the garden and our little girls growing faster than we want them to. 

Week of July 15, 2013

The scarcity of pictures this week is pitiful but here they are.  I realized as I uploaded the week's pictures to my camera this morning that I didn't take a single picture of our sweet little Audrey on the camera.  Of course, I have a bajillion of her this week on my phone so I guess that makes up for it.  Phones are just easier to use, they're always right there.  So enough of my rambling....on to this week's activities...

 

 We officially started the letter P with emphasis on Princesses, a favorite of Blueberry!

 New markers for Katie equals fun with the caps!  She put them on her fingers and was tapping her fingers on every surface she could.

 Who knew a blank poster board would provide an afternoon's worth of entertainment?  She loved moving it all over the house and coloring all over it.

We are beginning some work with gluing.  This is a tricky activity because it can be a big mess but, Katie's pretty good about containing the madness of glue and scrap paper.  She concentrated really hard on gluing her pieces of paper in just the right spots.

 Katie always has fun with these little worksheets.  Instead of using dot markers we use buttons or playdo to place on the circles.  This time the worksheet was a letter P with a Princess.  We used pink buttons to decorate the princess' dress.

Katie and I took a trip, just the two of us, to Petsmart for some dog food.  We came home with a crab and a snail.  Since Katie has great love for SpongeBob these little guys go perfectly with her SpongeBob figure in the angelfish tank.  Their names are Mr. Krabs and Gary, of course!  (Anyone familiar with SpongeBob will get their names)

We also spent some time painting this morning.  Katie loves taking multiple colors and blending them together.

This picture really shows the personality of our little girl.  She wanted to go outside but it was way too hot and muggy for Rich and I to want to join her.  We watched from the kitchen as she climbed right into her wheelbarrow full of rainwater and just sat there, enjoying her outside time.  Of course, a few minutes later it started thundering and she hightailed it back inside!

Week of July 8, 2013: Sick Ms. Katie

What a week!  It started out pretty regular for us.  We had plans to do a P is for Princess week.  Katie got all dressed up like a princess and we worked on a few princess activities.  Katie woke up from nap with a pretty high temperature and the rest of the week we battled her fever and tried to keep Katie and Audrey separated to keep Audrey from getting sick, too.  We visited the doctor Wednesday and Friday and Katie was put on antibiotics.  This week she is getting back to normal and so are we.

 

Audrey was such a good baby throughout the week.  She always seemed to understand when we needed to take care of Katie and would happily entertain herself.  She also started laughing this week!

Towards the end of the week Katie started feeling better.  She colored a little on her dry erase board and played with playdo.

We also got our new fish on sunday and Katie has had fun watching them.

We got a surprise visit from Uncle Benny on Monday!  His work happened to be going through Oklahoma and he was able to visit for a couple hours.
