Aug. 13-Aug. 25, 2013

The past two weeks have gone by so quickly that I just realized it was monday and therefore time for another blog.  Our little girls are changing so quickly and we are busy trying to keep up with them.  Ms. Katie decided that she was done with diapers and is now completely potty trained.  I love how when she puts her mind to something she's going to do it, no matter what.  So if you see her in pictures without pants on it's to help her get in and out of that bathroom quickly and easily.  She's doing so well and she wants to do it all on her own.  Very proud of her!  Little Audrey turned four months old a few days ago.  She is growing soooo quickly and doing new things all the time.  She's started the dreaded drooling stage and is soaking through several outfits in a day.  She tried cereal for the first time last night and did really well.

We started our farm theme last week.  In preparation for her farm sensory tub we planted chia seeds in a little tub.  While we had the chia seeds out we planted our chia gnome, too.

Katie and Daddy worked with different shapes to put together some little puzzles I picked up at the dollar store.

This little girl smiles ALL the time!  She's such a happy little sweetheart.

Katie is practicing cutting using playdoh and a butter knife.

Pancakes are Katie's absolute favorite breakfast.  She sits up on the counter and helps Daddy make them.  Daddy's specialty is pancakes.

Katie and Lillie cuddling on the couch.

I made a felt board with some felt finger puppets for farm theme.  Katie was excited to wake up to them on her table.

Lego Duplo makes books that tell a story as you build the characters.  I found a farm themed one on clearance and Daddy and Katie had fun building.

Katie enjoys coloring and we try to work in a few little "worksheets" with every theme.  One day her and I sat at the kitchen table for a few hours coloring and practicing tracing.

One of the most enjoyable activities for us all has been the farm sensory bin.  Daddy had fun creating a barn for Katie one evening.

Knox came over and didn't want to leave after discovering the sensory bin.

We've been able to get outside a little bit although now the problem isn't the heat, it's the mosquitos.  Daddy and Katie get eaten up by those little buggers.

The sensory table is so much fun Katie even wanted to bring it onto the patio.

The dollar store also had some farm themed lace cards and Katie has had fun concentrating on lacing.

Katie is finally starting to accept that Audrey is here to stay and has been trying to interact with her more.  She feeds her on occasion and is starting to read to her.  It helps that Audrey is crazy about Katie and laughs and smiles every time she sees her come close.

We've done a few playdoh activities this week including planting seeds and growing flowers in brown playdoh.

Lego duplos have been one of the favorite toys recently.  As you can tell poor Daddy was just slightly tired.

Audrey did good tasting her first bites of cereal.  She also had her fourth-month-old doctor's appointment along with some shots.  She weighed 15 lbs and is in the 76th percentile for her weight.

2 Weeks Worth: July 29-August 12, 2013

These past two weeks have flown by.  We have been keeping busy with an Eric Carle theme and our usual activities.

We've been able to enjoy some much needed outside time due to the unusual wet and cool summer.

Audrey has graduated from her bouncy seat to her jumper activity center.

Katie's been having fun learning about bugs with Eric Carle.  This is a game/activity I put together for "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".  I used an old oatmeal container to make the caterpillar and milk caps for illustrations of all the food he eats.  Katie can practice counting, sequencing and small motor skills as she "feeds" the caterpillar.  I try to put out the next day's activities after she goes to bed so she wakes up to what she calls a surprise and so she'll get excited about the activity.

We made butterflies using coffee filters, pom poms and popsicle sticks.

I made Katie some diapers out of felt complete with a wipe container, wipes and felt pee and poo.
It was a success!

Knox came over and spent the day while his mom ran some errands.

Katie is getting so excited about mail and loves receiving letters.  This week her and Audrey got a box from Grandmother with a couple of outfits and some stuffed chickens.  Thanks Grandmother!

Stickers are always a favorite so for "The Grouchy Ladybug" Katie had fun with ladybug stickers.

We made a lightning bug out of a toilet paper roll for "The Very Lonely Firefly".  Katie flew it around the backyard and all over the house.

I made a little taggie for Audrey to gnaw on.  It too, was a success!

Stringing beads on one of the many rainy days we've had.

Katie also created a caterpillar by gluing circles.

As usual we went to storytime and Katie had lots of fun playing with her friends.

Playing doctor with Audrey, checking her nose and ears.

We pulled the sensory tub out for some fun with beans.

Also on the project list was a ladybug.

We're working on ordering.  This week we practiced ordering caterpillars by size.
Can't wait for next week when we start a farm theme.  I've got some great sensory items planned for our sweet little girl.  I can't wait for Audrey to be able to join in on the fun, won't be long now!
