Our Week: New Puppy!

We've had a very exciting week!  We got our new puppy on Wednesday but before we get to those pictures here's a few pictures from earlier in the week.  A robin has made a nest on our arbor.  Katie and I spent many days watching the robin bring in grasses and make her nest.  I climbed a ladder and although I couldn't see into the nest I positioned the camera over the nest and got some pictures of the two eggs inside.  Of course Katie had to join in so she started climbing the ladder right behind me, with Daddy's help.

Katie's having a lot of fun with balls lately.  She's able to throw them pretty well and likes playing with Daddy on the back porch with her pink bouncy ball.

We've been putting bowls of water out for Katie to play with in the backyard.  The little stinker climbed right in!

Daddy washed off the patio and Katie played in the bubbles.

Katie learned that if she waves the bubble wand in the air really fast she can make bubbles lol!

This is the dog bed...you think Katie will share it with her puppy? 

And here's Lillie!  We brought her home Wednesday night.  She did amazing on the car ride home and slept all night long!  Yay!

Oh look...Katie is sharing "her bed" with Lillie.  These two get along great!  Lillie is incredibly patient and seems to never get tired of Katie.  Honestly Katie is a little jealous.  She's used to having all the attention and she doesn't know what to think about this little thing getting some love from us, too.

Katie likes to share things with Lillie like tiny bits of grass and twigs.  The funny thing is Lillie loves it and takes anything Katie will give her.

Our Week: Rainy Days and Katie's First Pet

Ms. Katie is kinda obsessed with birds.  She loves watching the birds at the birdfeeder and at the petshops.  She knows how to say bird in sign language and is constantly signing bird and pointing...pointing outside to the bird on the birdfeeder, pointing to the chickens on the mantel, pointing to the teeny tiny bird in a book.  The other day she kept pointing at our camera and signing bird and I had no clue what she was meaning until I looked at the camera and saw that there's a photograph of a bird as the screensaver.  The screensaver is only on about 2 seconds but somehow she saw that there was a bird there.  So.....enough with the ramblings, in short we got baby girl some birds!  We decided on a pair of zebra finches.  They're small, quiet and easy to take care of.  And Katie LOVES them!  They're very active and she has a lot of fun watching them hop all over.

Katie got to play with stickers this week.  She has a lot of fun putting them on the page and rearranging them until they're just the way she wants them.

It was rainy all week but we did manage to make it outside one day.  Our tulips finally bloomed and Katie was fascinated with them.  

We're working on making "discovery bottles".  These are just clear bottles filled with different items.  She's made a seashell one and we're working on making ones of every color.  Here's her white discovery bottle filled with q-tips, fake flowers, rolled up pieces of paper and bits of yarn.



Silly girl is becoming a master at facial expressions.  She loves to make faces and see people's reactions to those faces.  Here are a few that have been popular with her lately....

We're getting our puppy on wednesday so we should have lots of pictures of her and Katie getting to know each other.  Here's the lastest pic sent by the breeder.



Our Week: Garden and Outside Time

We've had such a wonderful week, keeping busy with the garden and our little girl.  My birthday was over the weekend and Katie got to help make a cake.  She liked helping use the hand mixer.

Dad's dog, Diamond stayed over the weekend and Katie loved having her around.  She would pile toys all around Diamond...poor dog was very patient.

We went to see our puppy on Monday, only two more weeks until she gets to come home!  Katie was crazy about the dog and tried picking it up several times.  It will definitly be a learning process once we get our puppy home.

After we got home Katie went outside.  While we were fixing dinner she got to "paint" with water on the patio and draw with chalk.

She's really enjoying her new chair.  The first day we had it she had to take it everywhere with her.

We've been doing a lot of work in the garden.  Rich made some raised beds out of cedar.  We've got all of them filled up except the long one.  The long one is for asparagus and needs to be filled up slowly throughout the summer so the asparagus won't rot while sprouting.

Katie and Knox had a playdate.  They were so excited to see each other and play together.

We've gone on several walks down the trail this week.

To my complete surpise Katie put on her own shoes today!  I know I'm a proud mom but that seems pretty amazing to me!  She was really concentrating on getting them on just right.
