Week of June 22, 2014

Our week started when Daddy attempted to mow the lawn before a thunderstorm.  Katie and I went outside to help while Audrey was taking a nap.  It started raining and Katie and I took cover in the swingset fort while Daddy kept mowing.  We ended up staying in there for quite a while but, since we had the camera we were quite entertained.

Audrey has started taking a few steps this week.  She's also really starting to push around the grocery cart and baby doll stroller and has been climbing onto everything and just generally getting into a lot of trouble haha!

We did a little bit of ocean themed school this week and on Wednesday we went to Evan's house for a pirate themed tot school.  The kids made several crafts, went on a treasure hunt and played outside.

Audrey loves her baby doll and has fun putting it into it's highchair and stroller.

Knox and Brex spent the day with us Tuesday and all the kiddos had fun playing and being their goofy little selves.

Katie loves helping us cook in the kitchen and is starting to learn how to season food.  She helped me make beef stroganoff this week.

The girls did some Handwriting without Tears songs and, as always, we did lots of reading.

We had one of our favorite meals for dinner...spaghetti!  It's worth the cleanup of the girls!

Saturday morning we made a big breakfast of bacon, hashbrowns and eggs and then headed outside to eat on the patio.

And just so we don't forget how completely adorable our little Audrey is here is Audrey almost exactly a year ago.

And here's little Miss Katie and Lillie 2 years ago...

Week of June 15, 2014

The lack of pictures in this post is shameful but, oh well there's always next week!  We had another ocean themed week of learning but, we mainly took it easy and had a relaxing week at home.

The girls have been wanting to play outside but, our backyard is a swampy, muddy mess so we brought their car inside.  Katie pulled Audrey all over the house much to Audrey's amusement.

Our sweet little friends Knox and Brex came over and we learned about starfish.  The kids painted a textured starfish, ate popcorn and played together so well.

We had an ocean themed tot school.  We read an Eric Carle book about a hermit crab, played a jellyfish math game and made our own hermit crabs using our handprints as crabs.

At the library this week the girls had read enough books and visited the library enough times to earn their prizes (a medal, coupon book and foam light stick).

Popcorn has been a favorite snack this week.

Katie got her first haircut!  She was excited to have Aunt Vicki cut her hair and it looks so much better and healthier now.

Week of June 8, 2014: Ocean Week

We've had a really fun week learning about oceans!  We've read lots of books, did many activities and even made a trip to the zoo to see a few ocean animals.

One of our first activities of the week was counting sea shells and putting them into buckets.  I wrote a number in dry erase marker on each bucket and Katie counted out the shells and placed them in the bucket.

Rich and I went to Florida the year before Katie was born and brought back some sand and seashells.  Katie has had a great time this week playing in the sand.

Both girls have fun coloring and get the crayons and paper out many times throughout the day.

Knox and Brex are going to start spending the day with us once a week!  All 3 of these kiddos are so excited to be together.  This past week we had a day of learning about octopuses.  The kids had a little "circle time" in the morning where we did our daily board of days of the week, the date and the weather.  They made octopuses out of toilet paper rolls and read books about octopuses.

We went to Evan's house for tot school this week.  The kids went on a seashell hunt, played in edible sand, made art and played in blue gelatin.  They had a blast!

Audrey loves, loves, loves the slide now.  She has no fear and has so much fun sliding down really quickly.

We took a trip to the zoo Friday to see some of the ocean animals.  We saw seahorses, sea lions, penguins, pelicans and flamingos to name a few.  The girls really enjoyed themselves and you could tell that Audrey was really paying attention to the animals on this trip.

And just to add a little color to your day here are our beautiful zinnias in full bloom.  I am certainly no photographer but, just wanted to try to capture a little bit of their beauty.
